NFT of ‘Monster’ Inoue put on market for first time in Japan by Phenix Battle Partners

Mar 15, 2022 14:59 pm

Phenix Battle Partners started selling the non-fungible token of World Boxing Association ‘’super’’ and International Boxing Federation bantamweight champion Naoya ‘’ The Monster’’ Inoue of Ohashi Boxing Gym on March 15.

The NFT, a non-interchangeable unit of data stored on a blockchain, a form of digital ledger, which can be sold and traded, includes the moving image of Inoue’s stoppage of Aran Dipaen of Thailand in his defense of the titles last December in Tokyo and 22 still images of the fight, according to company sources.

The theme of the NFT this time is ‘’Wa (thaw) seen from overseas’’ and is sold at auction starting from: 300,000 yen (about 2,535 U.S. dollars) for the moving image; and 50,000 yen for the still images.

Inoue said, ‘’The NFT products using my fight video will be sold. While my title defense on Dec. 14 last year was shown via pay-per-view (PPV) for the first time, the sale of the NFT this time is based on the latest technology in the world, which is a new modus operandi attracting a lot of attention. I myself am looking forward to it. True my job is to show a good performance in a fight. But I also hope my fans will root for me through these kinds of methods to enjoy boxing to their heart’s content.’’
