Highly touted Toshiki Shimomachi of Green Tsuda Boxing Gym achieved an easy decision win over the World Boxing Organization’s 13th-ranked featherweight Jeo Santisima of the Philippines in a featherweight nontitle bout on Dec. 11 in Osaka.
While there were no knockdowns throughout the fight at EDION Arena Osaka’s annex, southpaw Shimomachi controlled the fight throughout with his right jabs, straight lefts and side-to-side movement by taking advantage of his long reach. Shimomachi did not take the risk of exchanging blows with his slow-footed but hard-hitting opponent.
With the victory, the 26-year-old Shimomachi, ranked seventh in the Japanese super bantamweight division improved his record to 16 wins, 11 by knockout, against a loss, while Santisima, also 26, impaired to a 22-5 win-loss tally with 19 KOs.
