Jukiya Iimura Vows to Capture Title with “Kadoebi Soul” Against Champion Olascuaga

On 4 March, Jukiya Iimura of the Kadoebi Jewel Boxing Gym held a public training session at his gym in Otsuka, Tokyo. Ranked 6th by the WBO, Iimura is preparing for his world title challenge against the reigning WBO World Flyweight Champion, Anthony Olascuaga (USA), which will take place as the main feature of “U-NEXT BOXING 5” on 15 March at Yokohama BUNTAI.

Accompanied by his wife and second, Manami, and trainer Kenta Okumura, Jukiya Iimura appeared at a pre-workout press conference, sporting a confident smile as he declared, “I have been able to train without any injuries, and I am in excellent condition.” Iimura had previously been forced to withdraw from a title opportunity in December of last year due to a left rib injury. Now at full strength, he is determined to clash with the formidable champion, Anthony Olascuaga.

During the session, Iimura showcased his sharp form through shadow boxing, drum mitt work, and standard mitt sessions for the gathered media. “I am genuinely happy to be able to challenge such a strong champion, both in my own estimation and that of those around me. My motivation stems entirely from the goal of defeating him,” Iimura stated. His wife, Manami, testified to his focus, noting that “the sparkle in his eyes is different this time,” reflecting his fulfilled mental state.

Kadoebi Jewel Gym has a storied history of producing champions through significant upsets, including current gym president Yusuke Kobori, Yukinori Oguni, and Seiya Tsutsumi. Iimura intends to follow in the footsteps of his seniors. Under the banner of “Kadoebi Soul”—a term coined by President Kobori—the question remains whether Iimura can overturn the odds and defy the underdog predictions.
