On February 28, the reigning WBO Flyweight world champion Anthony Olascuaga (USA) arrived in Japan from Los Angeles. Olascuaga is scheduled to make the fifth defence of his title as part of the “U-NEXT BOXING 5” triple world championship event, which will take place on March 15 at the Yokohama BUNTAI.

For this defense, Olascuaga faces Iimura, the current Japanese Flyweight champion. Olascuaga has long targeted his “V5” (fifth defense), an achievement that would earn him a commemorative ring from the WBO. Through Teiken Gym, the champion commented, “I will do my best on March 15, so please support me.”

The event will be headlined by the clash between Nonito Donaire (Philippines) and Riku Masuda (Teiken). The card also features the WBC Light Flyweight / Junior Flyweight title match between Knockout CP Freshmart (Thailand) and Shokichi Iwata (Teiken), the Olascuaga-Iimura bout, and the WBA Minimumweight title fight between Ryusei Matsumoto (Teiken) and Yuga Takada (Lions). Public pre-fight events are set to begin this week.
