Kickboxer-turned Tenshin Nasukawa of Teiken Boxing Gym, who will have his second bout with Mexican bantamweight champion Luis Guzman in an eight-round super bantamweight fight on Sept. 18 at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena, told a joint press conference at a Tokyo hotel on Sept. 16 he wants to show how much he has evolved in the past five months.
The 25-year-old Nasukawa, who will compete in ‘’Prime Video Presents Live Boxing 5’’ as the chief supporting card of the event, said, ‘’Five months have passed since my debut, and it is not too much to say that I have lived my life for the upcoming fight.’’
Nasukawa continued, ‘’When I made a debut (a six-round decision win over then second-ranked Japanese bantamweight Yuki Yonaha of Shinsei Boxing Gym), I did what I was told to do. But now I started getting used to my style of boxing. I mean how to move and throw my punches on my own.’’
‘’I am determined to attain a knockout victory this time around because people around me have been repeating that over and over again,’’ Nasukawa said, adding, ‘’While I think I am being tested, I will respond to that in a positive fashion.’’
Meanwhile, Guzman said, ‘’I have been superior to him as I have more experience than him as a professional boxer. I am much more versatile than him, which can be responsible for my victory.’’
But Nasukawa brushed it aside by saying, ‘’Experience doesn’t count that much.’’
Guzman has a record of 10 wins, including six knockouts, against two losses.
