Undefeated Junto Nakatani of Japan will face top-ranked Giemel Magramo of the Philippines for the vacant World Boxing Organization flyweight title at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall on Aug. 21, organizing sources said on June 6.
According to Teiken Promotions, the scheduled 12-rounder will take place behind closed doors.
While the fight was originally scheduled for April 4 at the same place, it was postponed in March due to the deterioration of the novel coronavirus infection.
It was the third-ranked Nakatani’s first crack at a world title. The 22-year-old Japanese, who belongs to M.T Boxing Gym in Kanagawa Prefecture, southwest of Tokyo, has 20 straight wins, including 15 knockouts, while Magramo, 24, has a 24-1 win-loss record, including 20 Kos.
Nakatani’s compatriot Kosei Tanaka vacated the title earlier this year to move up to the super flyweight.
