WBO super flyweight king Ioka changes gymnasiums

Jun 25, 2020 15:31 pm

World Boxing Organization super flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka will move to Ambition GYM from DANGAN AOKI gym, both in Tokyo, according to sources close to Ioka, the only Japanese who has won world titles in four different weight divisions.

The 31-year-old Ioka made a comment on June 25, ‘’I will try my best to attain a higher state in boxing at Ambition GYM.’’

Ambition GYM, formerly known as Ozaki gym, was inactive for about two years but was resurrected last December.

Ioka became the WBO champion in June last year and made a successful defense of the title on New Year’s Eve.

Ioka’s compatriot and undefeated former WBO flyweight champion Kosei Tanaka, who vacated the crown after defending the title three times, is now ranked first in the super flyweight category and is entitled to challenge Ioka.
