World Boxing Organization gave its super flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka of Shisei Boxing Gym a special citation for his five successful defenses of the title at its annual convention in Puerto Rico’s San Juan, it was learned on Oct. 29.
The 33-year-old Ioka, who was given a commemorative diamond ring directly from President Francisco Valcarcel, will face World Boxing Association super flyweight champion Joshua Franco of the United States in a title unification fight on Dec. 31 in Japan.
The winner of the fight will have to face the WBO’s mandatory challenger within the next 180 days, according to boxing sources.
