Yanai earns split decision over Yamashita, wins vacant Japan female bantamweight title

  Second ranked Hinami Yanai of Shinsei Boxing Gym eked out a six-round split decision over top-ranked Nana Yamashita of REBOOT.IBA Boxing Gym to win the vacant Japanese female bantamweight title in Tokyo on Sept. 27.

Yanai (R) beats Yamashita in fierce battle

  While there were no knockdowns, both exchanged fierce blows throughout the fight at Korakuen Hall.

  With the win, Yanai improved her record to three wins, including one knockout, against two losses. Yamashita fell to a 4-2 win-loss tally with two KOs.

Kano (R) wins by throwing large number of punches

  Meanwhile, Honoka Kano of TEAM10COUNT BOXING GYM hammered out a six-round majority decision over top-ranked challenger Minayo Kei of SUN-RISE BOXING GYM and retained the title for the first time. The fight was held as the chief supporting card.

  With the victory, Kano improved her record to six wins, including two KOs, against a loss and two draws, while Kei sagged to a 7-6-1 win-loss-draw tally with one KO.
