Third-ranked challenger Yoshie Wakasa of Hanagata Boxing Gym pounded out a six-round unanimous decision over Kimika Miyoshi of Kawasaki Nitta Boxing Gym to win the Japanese female featherweight title on Nov. 13 at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall.
It was the 32-year-old Wakasa’s first title after failing to win the Japanese and Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation titles last year.
With the victory, Wakasa improved her record to seven wins, including two knockouts, against two losses. The 36-year-old Miyoshi sagged to 15 wins, six by KO, against three defeats and a draw.
