Japan Boxing Federation said on Feb. 15 that this year’s National High School Boxing Selection Tournament will not be held due to the lingering novel coronavirus pandemic for the second straight such cancellation.

While the tournament was expected to be held in Tokushima, western Japan, between March 22 and 26, it was cancelled as Japanese government recently extended the state of emergency for another one month from the originally planned Jan. 8-Feb. 7 period, which has made it impossible to stage necessary number of regional competitions, according to JBF sources.
