Newly crowned Japanese super lightweight champion Masahiro Suzuki of Kadoebi Boxing Gym relinquished the title on June 16, only six days after he captured it from Daishi Nagata of Misako Boxing Gym as the fifth-ranked contender.
The 25-year-old Suzuki wants to move down to lightweight and challenge Shuichiro Yoshino, who is the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation, World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific and Japanese lightweight champions, for his titles, Kadoebi gym officials said.
Suzuki is also against the ongoing rule that a selective challenger who has won a Japanese title must face a designated boxer within four months, according to the gym.
