The opening ceremony of Shisei Boxing Gym, formally known as Ambition GYM to which World Boxing Organization super flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka belonged, was held on July 15 in Tokyo’s Meguro Ward with Ioka, three other professional boxers and the gym’s head Takuya Kiya attending.
The three other boxers were former World Boxing Council flyweight champion Daigo Higa, seventh-ranked Japanese super featherweight Yoshimitsu Kimura and hard-hitting super bantamweight Ryuto Owan. These four boxers used to rent nearby EBISU K’s BOX in the Shibuya Ward for their training.
After the five jointly cut the tape at the opening ceremony, Ioka said, ‘’Now that I have had everything in place, I am determined to build a legend from now on.’’
Higa, who was upset by lightly regarded Ryosuke Nishida of Muto Gym last April in his native place of Okinawa, said, ‘’I will restart with a clean slate at this new gym.’’
The new gym will also accept ordinary people who want to practice boxing by time of day.
