To-ranked Japan featherweight Oyekola kayos fellow Nigerian in 1st round in lackluster bout

Top-ranked Japanese featherweight Ridwan Oyekola of Nigeria knocked out fellow countryman Samuel Moses in the first round in a scheduled eight-round super featherweight nontitle bout on May 14 in Sapporo, norther Japan.

The end of the fight at Gateaux Kingdom Sapporo came 1 minute and 55 seconds into the round when the 25-year-old Oyekola landed a right hook to the head, sending the 37-year-old Moses down. While Moses struggled to his feet, the referee counted him out as he did not express his intention to fight.

With the victory, Oyekola, who has been fighting out of Okinawa’s Hiranaka Boxing School Gym since last September, improved his record to 12 wins, including seven KOs, against a loss and two draws. Moses fell to a 4-5-1 win-loss-draw tally with two KOs.
