Nov. 11 ‘3150FIGHT’ put off as Rikiishi’s Mexican foe loses passport

Nov 09, 2023 10:54 am

The planned ‘’3150FIGHT SURVIVAL vol.9, ’’ in which highly touted super featherweight Masanori Rikiishi of Midori Boxing Gym is expected to face Carlos Flores of Mexico on Nov. 11 in Nagoya, central Japan, was postponed as his 23-year-old opponent was unable to visit Japan, Kameda Promotion Co. said on Nov. 8.

According to the promotion, Flores found he had had his passport stolen just when he was about to leave Tijuana. While Flores immediately went through the procedure for the reissuance of the passport, it is impossible for him to visit Japan for the Nov. 11 fight.

The fight with Flores at Aichiken Budokan has been regarded as a runup to his world title challenge as the 29-year-old Rikiishi is currently ranked fifth in the super featherweight division by the World Boxing Council, seventh by the International Boxing Federation and 12th by the World Boxing Organization.
