Ogawa’s bout with Nishitani put off until Oct. 2 from Sept. 5

Aug 14, 2020 19:13 pm

Highly touted Kenichi Ogawa’s bout with eighth-ranked International Boxing Federation super featherweight Kazhihiro Nishitani will be postponed until Oct. 2 from the originally scheduled Sept. 5, the Teiken Promotions, an organizer of the bout, said on Aug. 13.

While the details for the change are not available, the scheduled 10-rounder between the 32-year-old Ogawa, the IBF’s third-ranked super featherweight, and the 33-year-old Nishitani, a former Japanese lightweight champion, is regarded as a good yardstick for measuring Ogawa’s present real ability.

This will be the first time in about three years that Ogawa will meet a fellow Japanese boxer. Ogawa has 24 wins, including 18 knockouts, against a loss, a draw and one no contest, whereas Nishitani has a 21-4-1 win-loss-draw record with 12 KOs.

All the remaining undercards will also be moved to Oct. 2 from the original Sept. 5, according to the promotions.
