Satsuki Ito of Shisei Boxing Gym, a former top women’s amateur boxer, stopped Wassana Kamdee of Thailand on Dec. 31 at Tokyo’s Ota City General Gymnasium, attaining her second straight professional victory after turning pro in July 2022.
The technical knockout of the scheduled eight-round super flyweight bout came 1 minute and 47 seconds into the round when the 31-year-old Ito landed a barrage of punches to Wassana, 34, after scoring a knockdown earlier in the same round.
It was the first TKO victory for Ito, a former All-Japan women’s light flyweight titlist when she was an amateur boxer. Ito, had been working for the Japan Self-Defense Forces Physical Training School until March 2018.
With the loss, Wassana fell to a 6-8 win-loss tally with five KOs.
The fight was held as an undercard of the world super flyweight title unification fight between World Boxing Organization champion Kazuto Ioka of Shisei gym and World Boxing Association champion Joshua Franco of the United States.
