Former Japanese and Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation super welterweight champion Charles Bellamy of Yokohama Hikari Boxing Gym failed in his comeback fight for the first time in about four years and six months as he was stopped in the second round by Eiki Kani of T&T Boxing Sports Gym in a middleweight nontitle bout on Nov. 27 in Tokyo.

Bellamy floored by Kani’s right

The technical knockout of the scheduled eight-rounder at Korakuen Hall came 1 minute and 26 seconds into the round when the 42-year-old American’s corner threw in the towel after he was floored by the 22-year-old Kani with a straight right.

It was Bellamy’s first TKO loss in his long career, which started in May 2006.

With the loss. Bellamy now has a record of 28 wins, 18 by KO, against five losses and two draws. For his part, Kani upped his record to eight wins, including four KOs, against three losses and as many draws.

The fight was held as the chief supporting card for the day’s all Japan minimumweight title fight.
