Shigeoka brothers to defend titles on March 31 in Nagoya, more fights planned

  Both World Boxing Council minimumweight champion Yudai Shigeoka and his younger brother and International Boxing Federation minimumweight champion Ginjiro Shigeoka of Watanabe Boxing Gym will defend their titles for the second time, respectively on March 31 in Nagoya, Koki Kameda, head of Kameda Promotion Co., said on Feb. 5 in Tokyo.

  The 26-year-old Yudai will face former World Boxing Organization minimumweight champion and currently sixth-ranked Melvin Jerusalem of the Philippines, while the 24-year-old Ginjiro will take on ninth-ranked ArAr Andales, also of the Philippines, at Nagoya International Conference Hall.

  The undefeated Yudai has eight wins, five by KO. For his part, Jerusalem, 29, has a 21-3 win-loss tally with 12 KOs.

  As for Ginjiro, who is also undefeated, he has 10 wins, including eight KOs. The 24-year-old Andales has a 14-2-3 win-loss-draw record with six KOs.

  The fights are part of ‘’TOP Presents 3150FIGHT vol.8,‘’ and former two-division world champion Tomoki Kameda of TMK GYM’s rematch with second-ranked IBF featherweight Lerato Dlamini of South Africa will serve as the main event of the day.

  The event will be cohosted by Matchroom Boxing Inc. of Britain, which will launch the 1 million-dollar eight-man middleweight winner-takes-all fight series. The Japanese middleweight championship fight between champion Riku Kunimoto of Muto Boxing Gym and top-ranked Eiki Kani of T&T Boxing gym will be held as a quarterfinal of the series, along with three other middleweight bouts by foreign boxers, according to the Kameda promotion.
