Nakajima decisions Nakagawa, wins vacant OPBF super bantamweight title

All the six boxers fighting in the Feb. 24 world championship fights of ‘’Prime Video Presents Live Boxing 7‘’at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Arena attended a customary joint press conference held at Tokyo Dome Hotel on Feb. 22.
World Boxing Association bantamweight champion Takuma Inoue of Ohashi Boxing Gym, who is making his first defense of the title he won last April said, ‘’I think my opponent (ninth-ranked challenger Jerwin Ancajas of the Philippines) is the strongest boxer in my career and intend to brace my nerves so that I can come out a winner in the end.’’ The fight will serve in the extravaganza’s main event,
The left-handed Ancajas, who was a former International Boxing Federation’s world super flyweight champion and successfully defended the title nine times, said, ‘’I am hungry because there are no world champions in the Philippines at present. I want to win the fight for this purpose per se.’’
Meanwhile, former two-division world champion Junto Nakatani of M.T Boxing Gym who will take a crack at World Boxing Council bantamweight champion Alexandro Santiago of Mexico for the latter’s title, said, ‘’I have come close to making the bantamweight limit. I think I am full of energy. Though my opponent looks tough, I want to fight aggressively so that I can attain the victory in the way my fans want to see (knockout).’’
Santiago, who is making his first defense of the title he captured by decisioning Nonito Donaire of the Philippines for the vacant title last July, commented, ‘’I am honored because I can face a good opponent. I am determined to prove that I am a great boxer.’’
Last but not least, former three-division world champion Kosei Tanaka of Soul Box Hatanaka Boxing Gym, who will vie for the World Boxing Organization’s vacant super flyweight crown with second-ranked Christian Bacasegua of Mexico, told reporters, ‘’I am well prepared to become the world champion in my fourth weight division both physically and mentally.’’
For his part, Bacasegua said, ‘’I have engaged myself in hard training mentally and physically. I am determined to bring home the title as my family members are anxiously waiting for my victory.’’
