Takuma Inoue to defend WBA bantamweight title against Ishida in undercard of ‘Monster’s fight with Nery

Mar 06, 2024 19:31 pm

World Boxing Association bantamweight champion Takuma Inoue of Ohashi Boxing Gym will defend his title against top-ranked Sho Ishida of Ioka Boxing Gym on May 6 at Tokyo Dome as one of the undercards of Takuma’s brother and undisputed world super bantamweight champion Naoya ‘’The Monster’’ Inoue’s title defense against Luis Nery of Mexico, the Ohashi gym said on March 6.

It will be the 28-year-old Inoue’s second defense of the title he captured by decisioning Liborio Solis of Venezuela for the vacant title last April. Inoue retained the title for the first time by knocking out Jerwin Ancajas of the Philippines last month.

WBA flyweight champion Seigo ‘’Yuri’’ Akui of Kurashiki Moriyasu Boxing Gym will put his title on the line against third-ranked Taku Kuwahara of Ohashi gym in his first defense of the title he captured by decisioning Artem Dalakian of Ukraine last January.

Former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation super bantamweight champion Yoshiki Takei of Ohashi gym will take a crack at World Boxing Organization bantamweight champion Jason Moloney of Australia for the latter’s title. It will be Moloney’s second defense of the title he won last May for the vacant crown.

These championship fights will be held under the banner of ‘’Prime Video Presents Live Boxing 8,’’ which will be broadcasted live.
