Ex-K-1 WORLD GL champ Takei to turn pro boxer from Ohashi gym

Dec 14, 2020 12:59 pm

Ohashi Boxing Gym said on Dec. 13 former K-1 WORLD GP super bantamweight champion Yoshiki Takei will become a professional boxer from the gym.

The 24-year-old Takei will take a test to become a professional boxer in January and is expected to make a professional debut in March 2021 at the earliest, according to the gym.

He will fight either at the bantamweight or super bantamweight as a boxer. Former three-division world champion Akira Yaegashi, who officially retired from active boxing last September, will serve as his personal trainer, the gym added.

As a K-1 fighter, Takei had 23 wins, including 16 knockouts, against two defeats.
