Former amateur boxer Reo Saito, who captured six titles during his high-school days, will turn professional from Teiken Gym as he passed a B-class license test held at the gym on Feb. 5, according to boxing sources.

The 22-year-old Saito, who also boxed at Tokyo University of Agriculture, has a record of 70 wins against 11 losses during his amateur days. He is expected to fight in the super featherweight.

By the same token, Riki Masuda, who had a 52-14 amateur record during his high-school and university period, also passed a B-class license test at the gym. The 23-year-old southpaw is said to be aiming at making a debut as a flyweight.

Meanwhile, former amateur star Kenji Fujita of Teiken Gym will finally make a professional debut in a six-round featherweight bout on March 25 at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall, according to the sources.

The 27-year-old southpaw, who has a tremendous 153-21 win-loss record during his 10-year amateur career, ranging from a high-school, a university and Japan Self-Defense Forces, will face Motosuke Kimura of JM Kakogawa Boxing Gym. Kimura has a record of three wins, including a knockout, against two draws, the sources said.

While Fujita passed a B-class license test for a pro boxer last September, his debut has been delayed due to the lingering novel coronavirus pandemic, they added.
