JPBA/JBC to seek 1-month suspension of license for yelling seconds without masks

Japan Pro Boxing Association and the Japan Boxing Commission jointly held a liaison council meeting against novel coronavirus on Sept. 7 that license holders who have been in violation of the guidelines during fights such as yelling out loudly by removing masks from their faces will be suspended from serving as corner men for one month and six months or more for those shouting abusive language to attendants in charge.

Hitherto those who have violated the guidelines used to fill out commitment forms not to repeat their conducts, the number of the violation has not decreased noticeably.

About spectators, while the number of those who shout for given boxers has not yet decreased remarkably. Both JPBA and JBC decided to apply the guideline to those concerned with the license holders first.

In this connection, the parties concerned are considering asking promoters to attend future council meetings.
