Ex-K-1 super bantamweight champ Takei scores 2nd straight TKO win in six-rounder

Sep 09, 2021 23:35 pm

Yoshiki Takei of Ohashi Boxing Gym, the winner of a former K-1 super bantamweight grand prix, stopped Azusa Takeda of Takasaki Boxing Gym in the first round of a scheduled six-rounder on Sept. 9 at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall.

The technical knockout of the super bantamweight fight came 2 minutes and 57 seconds into the opening round when left-handed Takei sent his opponent to the canvas face first with a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.

While Takeda struggled to his feet, he was reeling along the ring, prompting the referee to call off the fight.

It was Takei’s second straight first-round KO victory. He made a professional debut in March this year.
After the fight, Takei said, ‘’Since Mr. Takeda had five KOs in as many bouts going into the fight, I was a little bit nervous but am happy that I was able to deck him. I hope to continue to beat stronger opponents from now on.’’
