WBO champ Nakatani, challenger Yamauchi clear weigh-ins as chief supporting card for Murata-GGG clash

Apr 08, 2022 17:57 pm

Undefeated World Boxing Organization flyweight champion Junto Nakatani of M.T Boxing Gym and his second-ranked challenger Ryota Yamauchi of Kadoebi Boxing Gym weighed in at 50.6 kg (111.6 lbs.) and at the class limit of 50.8 kg (112 lbs.), respectively on Apr. 8, the day before their title fight at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama Prefecture.

The scheduled 12-round title fight will serve as the chief supporting card for the title unification match between World Boxing Association ‘’super’’ middleweight champion Ryota Murata of Teiken Boxing Gym and International Boxing Federation kingpin Gennadiy Gennadyevich Golovkin of Kazakhstan, popularly known as GGG.

It will be the 24-year-old Nakatani’s second defense of the title he won in November 2020. He successfully defended the title last September by stopping Angel Acosta of Puerto Rico.

Nakatani has a record of 22 straight wins, including 17 KOs, while Yamauchi, 27, has an 8-1 win-loss tally with seven KOs.
