Former two-division world champion Tomoki Kameda terminated his contract with 3150 (Saiko) Fight Club run by his eldest brother Koki Kameda, Tomoki said this in writing on Apr. 12.
Tomoki, the youngest of the so-called three Kameda brothers including his second-eldest brother Daiki, said in the writing, ‘’since I have little time left as an active boxer considering the fact that I will turn 31 this year, I looked at the situation where I am in now objectively and decided to challenge to what extent I can go as a boxer by cutting myself off from my family for the time being, just like when I left Japan for Mexico (to start boxing as an amateur boxer in 2007).’’
Tomoki added, ‘’My family members have sent me off willingly. I will do my best under severer environments so that I can win a world title again and show the championship belt to the family as well as to those who have supported me. I also want to have a bigger match in the future.’’
Tomoki, nicknamed El Mexicanito, was a former World Boxing Organization bantamweight champion and a former World Boxing Council super-bantamweight interim titlist. He joined the 3150 Fight Club in March 2021 because his did not have a boxer’s license in Japan for his Kyoei Boxing Gym, from which he had been fighting in Japan, was adjourned in December 2019.
He pounded out a 12-round unanimous decision over Yonfrez Parejo of Venezuela in December 2021 in Mexico’s Hermosillo to acquire the right to challenge World Boxing Association’s ‘’super’’ and International Boxing Federation super bantamweight champion Murodjon Akhmadalie of Uzbekistan.
He has a 38-3 win-loss tally with 20 knockouts. Tomoki, who is bilingual in Japanese and Spanish, got married to a Mexican woman in 2015 and has a child.
