World-ranked Inoue decisions Nwachukwu in middleweight nontitle bout in Tokyo

Jun 05, 2022 12:08 pm

Takeshi Inoue of World Sports Boxing Gym, the 15th-ranked super welterweight by the International Boxing Federation, pounded out a 10-round unanimous decision over top-ranked Japanese middleweight Nath Nwachukwu of Marvelous Boxing gym in a middleweight nontitle bout on June 4 at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall.

It was the 32-year-old Inoue’s first fight since dropping a lopsided decision to undefeated World Boxing Organization global champion Tim Tszyu of Australia in Sydney last November.

While neither Inoue nor Nwachukwu failed to land decisive blows, it was Inoue who forced his opponent with his strong physical power aided by overhand rights in the latter part of the fight.

With the victory, Inoue improved his record to 18 wins, including 10 knockouts, against two losses and a draw. The 24-year-old Nwachukwu fell to a 7-3-2 win-loss-draw tally with three KOs.
