Kyoguchi enters Guadalajara for his title defense against Mexican Bermudez on June 10

May 31, 2022 13:45 pm

Undefeated World Boxing Association light flyweight ‘’super’’ champion Hiroto Kyoguchi of Watanabe Boxing Gym entered Guadalajara, Mexico, on May 30 for his fourth defense of the title against ‘regular’’ champion Esteban Bermudez of Mexico in the central western city of the country on June 10 (11 Japan time).

After his long journey from Tokyo, Kyoguchi took a walk for about 30 minutes, according to sources close to the gym.

This will be the second straight time for Kyoguchi to defend his title overseas following his technical knockout win over Axel Aragon Vega of Mexico in Dallas in the U.S. state of Texas in March last year for his third defense of the title.

Kyoguchi, a former International Boxing Federation minimumweight champion, won the WBA light flyweight title from Hekkie Budler of South Africa with TKO in Macao on Dec. 31 of 2018.

The 28-year-old Kyoguchi has a record of 15 straight wins, including 10 KOs. For his part, Bermudez, 26, won the title by stopping Carlos Canizales of Venezuela in May last year and is making his first defense of the title. He has a 14-3-2 win-loss-draw record with 10 KOs.
