Ex-world champ Yabuki to face Chacon in IBF light flyweight challenger deciding fight on Jan. 28 in Nagoya

Former World Boxing Council light flyweight champion Masamichi Yabuki of Midori Boxing Gym will face Ronaldo Chacon of Venezuela in the International Boxing Federation light flyweight challenger deciding match on Jan. 28 next year in Nagoya, the gym said on Dec. 8.

The winner of the scheduled 12-rounder at Nagoya International Exhibition Hall between the eighth-ranked Yabuki and seventh-ranked Chacon is expected to have the right to challenge current champion Sivenathi Nontshinga of South Africa for the latter’s title.

While the 30-year-old Yabuki lost the WBC title to Kenshiro Teraji of BMB Boxing Gym with a devastating knockout in their direct rematch in March this year, he returned to the ring in September this year by stopping the previously undefeated Thanongsak Simsri of Thailand. Yabuki wrested the title by stopping Teraji in September last year.

Yabuki has a record of 14 wins, including 13 KOs, against four losses, while the 31-year-old Chacon has a 28-1-1 win-loss-draw tally with 20 KOs.
