EX-world flyweight champ Kimura draws with China’s Tuolehazi in Thailand

Jan 26, 2023 12:08 pm

Former World Boxing Organization flyweight champion Sho Kimura of Hanagata Boxing Gym and Wulan Tuolehazi of China fought to a 10-round draw for the vacant World Boxing Association’s international flyweight title in Bangkok on Jan. 25.

While two of the three judges had it even at 95-95, the remaining judge scored the fight in favor of Tuolehazi.

It was the 34-year-old Kimura’s second straight draw following his fight with Ryu Horikawa of Misako Boxing Gym last May

In the fight with Tuolehazi, Kimura got off to a good start by throwing various punches. But the Chinese fended off Kimura’s offence with his tight guard and rallied at the halfway stage of the fight, in which there were no knockdowns.

With the draw, Kimura has a record of 19 wins, including 12 knockouts, against three defeats and four draws. The 29-year-old Tuolehazi now has a 15-4-2 win-loss-draw tally with seven KOs.
