World Boxing Association female flyweight champion Naoko Fujioka of Shinji Takehara and Takanori Hatakeyama Boxer Fitness Gym exuded confidence concerning her title defense on July 9 (July 10 Japan time) against fifth-ranked challenger Sulem Urbina of Mexico in Los Angeles California at the joint press conference held on July 7 local time in LA.

The 45-year-old Fujioka, Japan’s only five-division world champion, said, ‘’I am happy that I can be here. I am excited because the coming fight will be important not only for myself alone but also for my supporters and the Japanese boxing world as a whole since Japan’s female boxing still lacks popularity, adding I know Urbina is a strong rival’’

The scheduled 10-rounder, hosted by the Golden Boy Promotions Inc., will be held at the Banc of California Stadium in LA.

Fujioka, making her third defense of the title she won in March 2017, has a record of 18 wins, including seven knockouts, against two losses and a draw, while the 31-year-old Urbina has a 12-1 win-loss tally with two KOs.

The 36-year-old Tsunami has a record of 28 wins, including 16 KOs, against 12 defeats and a draw, while the undefeated Estrada, 29, has 20 wins, including eight KOs.

The scheduled 10-rounder will also be hosted by the Golden Boy Promotions.
