Takesako to challenge WBO int’l middleweight champ Nursultanov on Apr. 15 in S. Korea

Undefeated Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation middleweight champion Kazuto Takesako of World Sports Boxing Gym will challenge the World Boxing Organization international middleweight champion Meiirim Nursultanov of Kazakhstan for the latter’s title on Apr. 15 in South Korea, a Japanese organization promoting the fight said on Feb. 4.

According to Treasure Boxing Promotion, headed by former WBO super featherweight champion Masayuki Ito, the scheduled 12-rounder will be held at Paradise City in Incheon adjacent to Seoul. This will be the second time for the promotion to stage a boxing event following the one held at the same place last December.

The upcoming fight will be the 31-year-old Takesako’s first fight overseas. He has a record of 15 wins, including 14 knockouts, with one draw. As for the 29-year-old Nursultanov, who is ranked third in the WBO’s world middleweight rankings, he has 18 straight wins, including 10 KOs.

Meanwhile, former International Boxing Federation super bantamweight champion Ryosuke Iwasa of Celes Boxing Sports Gym will have an eight-round featherweight fight with former U.S. amateur champion Japhethlee Llamido as one of the supporting cards for the Nursultanov-Takesako showdown.

The 23-year-old Llamido, who is undefeated in his 10 professional bouts, including four knockouts, after turning pro two years ago at featherweight. is expected to arrive in Japan shortly as a sparring partner of former undisputed world bantamweight champion Naoya ‘’The Monster’’ Inoue of Ohashi Boxing Gym in preparation for Inoue’s fight at super bantamweight.

The 33-year-old Iwasa, who will be fighting his second fight after losing to IBF super bantamweight and World Boxing Association ‘’super’’ champion in the division Murodjon Akhmadaliev of Uzbekistan with a fifth-round technical knockout in April, 2021. Iwasa has a record of 28 wins, including 18 KOs, against four losses.
