The head of M.T Boxing Gym to which World Boxing Organization super flyweight champion Junto Nakatani belongs has indicated that Nakatani may move up to bantamweight unless he cannot have a super flyweight title unification fight with a champion of another sanctioning body.

  Takeshi Murano thus hinted at Nakatani’s future career after Nakatani and his stablemates launched a joint training camp for two nights and three days at Sagamiko Country Club golf course in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, starting Nov. 23.

  The undefeated Nakatani, who retained his super flyweight title for the first time in September with a lopsided 12-round decision over Argi Cortes of Mexico in Tokyo, himself said, ‘’I am on the edge physically because it is not so easy to reduce my weight (to the 52.16-kg or 115-pound super flyweight limit) unless I get psyched up. Too much weight reduction could affect my performance.’’

  The 25-year-old Nakatani, who stands 172 cm (5.64 feet) and currently weighs nearly 62 kg (136.7 lbs), is expected to have his next fight around next February.

He was a former WBO flyweight champion and relinquished the title in October last year after successfully defending it twice.

The left-handed Nakatani won the vacant super flyweight title in this past May by demolishing Andrew Moloney of Australia in the 12th and the final round in Las Vegas, Nevada.
