Anaguchi takes emergency subdural hematoma surgery after Dec.26 Japan title bout

Dec 30, 2023 16:12 pm

Third-ranked Japanese bantamweight Kazuki Anaguchi of Shinsei Boxing Gym took an emergency operation for the treatment of subdural hematoma on the right side following his decision loss to Seiya Tsutsumi of Kadoebi Boxing Gym in the Japanese bantamweight title fight on Dec. 26 in Tokyo, Japan Boxing Commission said on Dec. 30.

The 23-year-old Anaguchi suffered four knockdowns in the 10-round title fight, dubbed ‘’Bantamweight Monster Tournament Finals,’’ in an exciting slugfest. The fight was held as the chief supporting card for the world super bantamweight title unification bout at Ariake Arena.

Immediate after the fight, Anaguchi, who had a hard time returning to a dressing room on his own, was sent to a hospital for treatment.

Anaguchi, who had 76 amateur bouts, now has a professional record of six wins, including two KOs, against a loss.
