Tatsuyoshi decisions Yonaha in super bantamweight 8-rounder in Osaka

Jan 24, 2024 8:28 am

Juiki Tatsuyoshi of Osaka Teiken Boxing Gym, a son of former legendary World Boxing Council bantamweight champion Joichiro Tatsuyoshi, pounded out an eight-round majority decision over10th-ranked Japanese bantamweight Yuki Yonaha of Shinsei Boxing Gym in a super bantamweight eight-round fight in one of the undercards of ‘’Prime Video Presents Live Boxing 6’’ in Osaka on Jan. 23.

There were no knockdowns in the fight fought at EDION Arena Osaka. They fought at the catchweight of 54.5 kg (120.1 lbs).

While the 27-year-old Tatsuyoshi got off to a good start by landing combinations blows, Yonaha, 33, hung tough and retaliated with left hooks to the body and right uppercuts. Both exchanged punches the rest of the way with Tatsiuyoshi slightly getting the better of Yonaha.

With the win, Tatsuyoshi, who was once ranked seventh in the Japanese super bantamweight division, was laid off frequently due partly to injuries he suffered during training and the rampant COVID-19 coronavirus catastrophe, improved his unbeaten record to 15 wins, 10 by knockout, with one draw. Yonaha dropped to a 13-6-1 win-loss-draw tally with eight KOs.
