The Japan Boxing Commission said on Oct. 2 that a professional boxer in his 20s in Kyoto Prefecture, western Japan, tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
According to the JBC, the boxer who belongs to a gym under the wing of the Japan Pro Boxing Association showed symptoms of the COVID-19 when he underwent a polymerase chain reaction, or PCR, test.
He has not shown any symptoms and is currently resting at his home. He has not shown up at the gym since Sept. 21. He took the PCR test as he came in close contact with a person who tested positive for the coronavirus.
