Japan’s promoter-hosted Boxing Renaissance held in Mexico, Japanese welcome

Dec 20, 2020 22:26 pm

This year’s Boxing Renaissance, hosted by Mexico-based Japanese promoter-cum-trainer Hisatoshi Furukawa, was held in Huixquilucan’s Veneno in the State of Mexico on Dec.19 (Dec. 20 Japan time). Six professional bouts were held, along with one amateur match.

Just like other countries, rampant COVID-19 has been affecting the Mexican boxing scene as many amateur boxers have few occasions to make their professional debuts.

‘’To help save them, I want to continue to promote these small but important bouts for the good of the nation’s boxing scene,’’ Furukawa said, adding that the next event is scheduled for Feb. 13 next year. ‘’ Japanese boxers are also welcome in this respect,’’ he added.
