A ‘’direct rematch’’ between World Boxing Organization world female super flyweight champion Tomoko Okuda of Mitsuki Boxing Gym in Osaka and former champion Miyo Yoshida of Misako Boxing Gym will be held on June 29 at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall, Misako Promotions Inc. said on Apr. 16.
Both fought on Dec. 13 last year at the annex of EDION Arena Osaka with Okuda wresting the title from Yoshida with a sixth-round technical decision as Yoshida suffered a severe cut above her right eye.
The 37-year-old Okuda, known as a high-school teacher-cum-boxer, scored a knockdown in the first round. She has a record of seven wins, including 1 knockout, against two losses and as many draws.
For her part, the 33-year-old Yoshida, who failed in her second defense of the title she captured in June 2019, has a 14-2 win-loss tally.
