Yoshiki Takei of Ohashi Boxing Gym, the winner of a former K-1 super bantamweight grand prix, stopped Kazuhiro Imamura of Honda Fitness Boxing Gym in the first round on Dec. 14 in Tokyo, attaining the first-round victory for the third straight time since turning pro in April this year.
Fighting at Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Arena at a catchweight bout of 55 kgs, the 25-year-old Takei decked Imamura with a right uppercut followed by a barrage of right-left combinations from his southpaw style and ended the fight 59 seconds into the round of the scheduled eight-rounder. While Imamura wobbled to his feet, the referee declared Takei’s technical knockout victory.
Imamura, also a southpaw who had fought more than 50 matches while he was an amateur boxer, impaired to a 2-1-1 win-loss-draw tally with one KO.
The fight was one of the undercards of Takei’s senior stablemate World Boxing Association’s ‘’super’’ and International Boxing Federation’s bantamweight champion Naoya ‘’Monster’’ Inoue’s title defense against the IBF’s fifth-ranked Aran Dipaen of Thailand.
