Jan 22, 2022 18:58 pm

Former three-weight world champion Jorge Linares of Venezuela will face World Boxing Council silver lightweight champion Zaur Abdullaev of Russia on Feb. 19 in Russia’s Yekaterinburg, Teiken Boxing Gym to which Linares belongs said on Jan. 21.

It will be the 36-year-old Linares’ first fight since losing to undefeated WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney of the United States last May in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the latter’s title.

Abdullaev, 27, also lost to the then WBC lightweight interim champion Haney in September 2019 and is also seeking his second challenge at the regular title as he has racked up three straight wins since then.

Linares, currently ranks sixth in the division, has a record of 47 wins, including 29 knockouts, against six losses. For his part, Abdullaev has a 14-1 win-loss tally with eight KOs.
