IBF super featherweight champ Ogawa seals management deal with Tokyo’s Commons2

International Boxing Federation super featherweight champion Kenichi Ogawa of Teiken Boxing Gym has concluded a management contract with Commons2 Inc., The company said on Jan. 25.

The Tokyo-based Commons2, known for having managed Ogawa’s senior colleague and former World Boxing Council bantamweight champion Shinsuke Yamanaka when Yamanaka was the champion.

Commons2 will give various support for Ogawa, 33, outside of boxing itself, including promotion and advertisement for Ogawa, who won the title last November with a lopsided decision over Azinga Fuzile of South Africa for the vacant IBF title.

Ogawa concluded a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing of England last December. Matchroom, buttressed by DAZN, a sports streaming platform, is regarded as one of the world’s foremost promotion entities.

The time schedule for Ogawa’s first defense of the title has not yet been decided though.
