Yamanaka stops Pimchanok to retain WBO’s Asia-Pacific female atomweight title in Osaka

Sumire Yamanaka of the Shinsei Boxing Gym stopped Pimchanok Thepjanda of Thailand in the third round of the scheduled eight-round fight and retained the World Boxing Organization’s Asia-Pacific female atomweight title at EDION Arena Osaka’s annex in Osaka on Apr. 15.

It was the 21-year-old Yamanaka’s first successful defense of the title she captured last September.
With the victory, Yamanaka extended her unbeaten streak to seven, including three knockouts. For her part, Pimchanok, 19, fell to a 4-2 win-loss tally with two KOs.

Meanwhile, second-ranked Japanese female bantamweight Ringo Aka of Shinsei gym stopped Kim Actub of the Philippines in the second round of the scheduled six-rounder and won the vacant title.

With the win, Aka, 28, improved her record to four wins, including three KOs, against a loss, while Kim, 30, fell to an 8-11-1 win-loss-draw tally with five KOs.
