Ohashi gym to stage 3rd ‘Phoenix Battle Seoul’ on Nov. 18 in Seoul

Sep 08, 2023 16:23 pm

Ohashi Boxing Gym said on Sept. 7 it will jointly stage the third ‘’Phoenix Battle Seoul’’ with a local South Korean promoter on Nov. 18 in the South Korean capital to help vivify the boxing scene of the erstwhile Japanese rival.

According to the gym, seventh-ranked World Boxing Organization’s Asia-Pacific super middleweight Tej Pratap Singh of Australia will be pitted against ninth-ranked South Korean Deok No Yun for the vacant Asia-Pacific title of the division.

Besides, South Korean super welterweight champion Kim Wong Wook will face third-ranked Japanese super welterweight Yuta Ashina of Kaneko Boxing Gym in a 10-round nontitle fight as the chief supporting card.

Ohashi gym launched the ‘’Phoenix Battle’’ series in South Korea last year and the current World Boxing Council and WBO super bantamweight champion Naoya ‘’the Monster’’ Inoue of the gym attended the second event this past February to contribute to the strengthening of the subdued South Korean boxing world.

The gym held the first ‘’Phoenix Battle Seoul’’ last November and intends to eventually stage an event like Japan versus South Korea.
