Nishida ends training camp for his planned IBF world bantamweight title challenge

  Top-ranked International Boxing Federation bantamweight Ryosuke Nishida of Muto Boxing Gym ended a three-day training camp on Feb. 2 together with his stablemates at Hinata Miyazaki Prefectural Comprehensive Sports Park in Miyazaki Prefecture, southwestern Japan, as he is expected to challenge champion Emmanuel Rodriguez of Puerto Rico for the latter’s title this spring in Japan.

 Kameda Promotion Co. made a successful bid for promoting the fight in a purse bid held online on Jan. 31 (Japan time).

 Japanese and the World Boxing Organization’s Asia-Pacific middleweight champion Riku Kunimoto, top-ranked Japanese super flyweight Akio Furutani, top-ranked Japanese super bantamweight Dekanarudo Tulio, seventh-ranked Japanese light flyweight Takeru Inoue and 13th-ranked Japanese featherweight Kaito Yamazaki joined the camp.

  The 27-year-old Nishida decisioned Christian Medina of Mexico in an elimination bout for the title last August.
