Japanese female bantamweight champion Kanako Taniyama of Watanabe Boxing Gym and Japanese flyweight champion Mizuki Hiruta of Misako Boxing Gym will fight with each other for the vacant World Boxing Organization female super flyweight title on Dec. 1 at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall, organizers said on Nov. 2.

The title was left vacant by Tamao Ozawa of Futur Boxing Gym as she hung up her gloves last month. It will be the first time for Taniyama and Hiruta to challenge for a world title.

The 35-year-old Tamayama, a former ‘’Kyokushin’’ karate practitioner, has a record of five wins, including one knockout, against a loss and a draw, while the left-handed Hiruta, 26, has three straight wins after fighting 45 bouts as an amateur boxer.
