Top-ranked World Boxing Association super bantamweight Tomoki Kameda of Osaka’s TMK GYM launched an event called ‘’TMK Kids Competition’’ in Mexico City on Apr. 30 to further vivify boxing in the central American country.

The 31-year-old Kameda, popularly known as ‘’El Mexicanito’’ for he fought in Mexico earlier in his career, said, ‘’I hope to serve as a bridge between Japan and Mexico even if only slightly so that Japanese kids can enter boxing competition in Mexico with the final aim of having them fight for world titles.’’

Kameda, who distributed various presents to local children and held a party after the event, added he wants to have a similar event next time in Japan.
