Heavyweight Tajima decision’s Marin in nontitle fight of ’3150FIGHT SURVIVAL vol.5’

Jun 11, 2023 10:36 am

Japanese heavyweight champion Mitsuro Brandon Tajima of KWORLD3 Boxing Gym Hammered out an eight-round unanimous decision over Luis Marin of Venezuela as the main event of the ‘’3150FIGHT SURVIVAL vol.5’’ at EDION Arena Osaka’s annex on June 10.

While the undefeated Tajima occasionally landed his favored left and right hooks to the head and body, the tenacious Venezuelan hung tough and managed to go the distance.

Two of the three judges scored the fight 78-73 and the remaining judge saw it 77-74 all in favor of Tajima. His previous five fights all ended in the first round. Tajima tipped the scales at 127 kg (280 lbs.), while Marin weighed in at 121 kg (267 lbs.).

The referee declared a knockdown and issued a mandatory eight count to the 36-year-old Marin in the seventh round when Tajima, 28, threw rapid left-right hooks, although it appeared to be a slip.

After the fight, soft-spoken Tajima said, ‘’I thought I would have a (tough) experience like this sometime in my career. Though I had a difficulty coping with my opponent today, I am satisfied with the result of today’s fight most. Boxing is not such an easy sport, and the ‘’God of Boxing’’ existed.’’

With the loss, Marin fell to a 10-5 win-loss tally with seven KOs.
