IBF minimumweight title fight between Valladares, Shigeoka put off due to Shigeoka’s injuries

Jul 27, 2023 17:21 pm

The International Boxing Federation minimumweight title fight between champion Daniel Valladares of Mexico and interim world minimumweight kingpin Ginjiro Shigeoka of Watanabe Boxing Gym was postponed from the originally scheduled Aug. 11 at EDION Arena Osaka due to Shigeoka’s injuries, Kameda promotion Co. said on July 27.

While Shigeoka knocked out the IBF’s third-ranked Rene Mark Cuarto of the Philippines to win the IBF interim world minimumweight title last April, his coveted title unification fight with Valladares as part of the ‘’3150FIGHT Vol.6’’ was put off, and no new date and a venue of the fight have yet to be decided, according to the promotion.

By the same token, the plan to have Shigeoka’s elder brother and World Boxing Council interim world minimumweight champion Yudai Shigeoka fight with champion Panya Pradabsri of Thailand on the same date at the arena had fallen through for various reasons.

But the 3150FIGHT Vol.6 event itself will be held as originally planned, according to the promotion.
