Oct 14, 2023 10:37 am

Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation featherweight champion Hayato Tsutsumi of Shisei Boxing Gym was found to be suffering from the flue on Oct. 13 as he failed to compete with Dominican Republic featherweight Luis Moncion Ventura for a 10-round nontitle fight on the day at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall, according to the gym.

The 24-year-old Tsutsumi failed to show up for the Oct. 12 weigh-in because he developed a high fever and was hospitalized.

Tsutsumi won the vacant OPBF title in his third professional bout last May, the shortest record in Japan. The 25-year-old Ventura is ranked 15th in the World Boxing Association’s featherweight division.
